Step 2: Creating an Instance

An instance serves the following two purposes:

• Identifies profiles that may be applied to production traffic.
• Determines how unwanted traffic is handled.

To create an instance

1. Navigate to the Instance Manager page.
2. Click + Add Instance.
3. In the Instance Name option, define the name by which this instance will be identified.
   
4. In the Production Profile option, select the profile created earlier in this tutorial.
5. Verify that the Production Action option is set to "alert." This mode generates dashboard alerts whenever a request is categorized as illegitimate traffic. Leverage this mode to verify that legitimate site traffic will not be impacted by this WAF profile.
6. Click Save.
